While everything seems to be going up in prices, it’s nice to know that there are still a few free date ideas and free things you can do with someone you love. As the expression goes “the best things in life are free”, so hopefully these free date ideas are something you and the one you love will enjoy without spending a dime.

Take a Walk: This free date idea can be done anywhere – in your neighborhood or a nearby walking trail.

Do a jigsaw or crossword puzzle together: If you’re a puzzle lover, doing a puzzle together is a great free idea for spending time together.

Watch the sky: All you need is a blanket and depending on what time of the day it is and where you choose to watch the sky, you can enjoy watching clouds, stars, or even airplanes.

Visit a Playground: Who says playgrounds are just for kids? This free date idea is a great free thing you can do with someone you love. Swing on the swings, hang on the monkey bars, or go down the slides. Just be sure to pick a time the playground is not too busy.

Play cards together: Anything from strip poker to rummy to even UNO can be a great free way to spend time together. If you don’t have a deck of cards, you can really make this a free date idea by using junk mail or other materials you have around the house to make your own deck of cards.

Play a board game: Board games are another fun thing you can do for free on a date. Pick out your favorite classics or if you don’t have any board games, you can invent your own using materials you have around your house.

Visit the library: Libraries are great places for a free date. Many libraries even have movies you are allowed to borrow for free!

Wash the car together: While this might not sound like fun for everybody, this does have potential to be a free fun date idea if you get creative.

Make a collage: This free date idea doesn’t take anything more than whatever magazines you have around the house and a little glue or tape and scissors. You can collage with a certain theme or just look for pictures out of a magazine that mean something to you both.

Spend a day together in bed: This is my favorite free date idea. Take naps, watch a little TV, snuggle together, or just take some time catching up with each other spending the entire day together in bed.

Start a collection of something: Collecting something can be a fun free way to spend time together. You can collect and look for things like rocks, leaves, or anything else generally available for free and easy to find and acquire.

Volunteer together: This free idea will not only help you be closer to each other but also help you give back to the community and support a good cause you both believe in.

Play charades: I bet you haven’t played this game in awhile! Take turns acting things out to see if the other person can guess what they are.

Read a book to each other: Choose from favorites on your bookshelf, join a bookswap, or use books borrowed from the library with this free way to spend time together.

Rearrange the furniture in a room in your house: Have you ever watched those design shows where the redesign a room without spending a penny? You can do the same thing with your living room, bedroom, or other room in your home.

Check your newspaper for local free events: Many areas will have free concerts, free shows, free classes, and other free events you can attend together.

Watch your favorite television series together: Many television series can be addictive. See if you can find one you both enjoy and make it a habit to watch it together anytime it’s on.

Play video games: If you have an old Nintendo or Sega in your basement or closet, it’s time to dust it off and have some fun together playing your favorite old school video games.

Fly a Kite: You can make a kite yourself or if you already have one go to a beach or choose a windy day and wide open place and enjoy flying a kite together.

Attend a local school sports game or music performance: Many schools have free band and choir performances, or you can catch a little league game or high school varsity sport to watch together.

Crank up the stereo and dance to some music together: You can choose slow romantic songs or fast songs and dance pretty much anywhere with this free date idea.
