When a relationship gets over, you will need to move on. You do not have any other option. Agreed, a relationship gives you all the joys that you can imagine of, and if things had been your way, you would never have preferred to be out of a relationship. But things change, people change, and so do circumstances. We are forced to live without some people, and that gives us a lot of pain. We wish things could go back to normal, and that we could live that old, pleasant life. We wish that the problem which caused the break up had never happened. But, we need to move on, and try to forget that person from your life, because the more we think about them, the more it will hurt us.

That person might have moved on from us, or might not have. But once we have decided that we are breaking up, we must move on. The reasons for breakups are different, but the feeling underlying it is the same. In that particular relationship, we are facing more problems and more sadness than happiness. Since we enter into a relationship only for ourselves, and our happiness, when our happiness is sacrificed upon, we must break up. Forgetting someone might not be an easy task, but when tried with proper efforts, we will eventually succeed. After succeeding, we will be able to live a life of happiness and joy and liberation, and that is what we sought initially. A few tips that will help in forgetting the person are –

  1. Try not to forget that person – The more we try to forget that person, the more we are reminded of them. Accepted that such memories are painful, but when we consciously try to forget that person then we never succeed. We must let things be, and then we will slowly forget them, with time. We must be casual with their memories, and try to treat their memories as nothing too alarming. We must think of the positive things about that person, and that will ease the process.
  2. Get other friends – The amount of time you spent with that person, try to do other things like talking to other people. Meet new people, and that excitement might make things much easier. You can make new friends, and spend much more time with old ones. That way you will remain occupied and then slowly and steadily, their memory will go out of your mind. You can also share all these memories with another person, and they can help you get over all these things. The very fact that you’ve gotten this off yourself will help you in a big way.
  3.  Focus on your career – Hard work cures depression. When you focus on your career, you get two benefits. One, your career becomes much better and second, with more and more burden of work, you start forgetting that person. This will help to a great extent and make you achieve a lot of things in life as well.
