Posted by Chelle in Yesterday I asked you all the timeless question of “what is the meaning of love?” and promised you to write my answer today. So here it is:
There isn’t one.
WHAT? How can somebody who writes a blog all about love say there is no meaning to love?
I didn’t say NO meaning, I said there isn’t ONE meaning of love.
There are a lot of different meanings to love. As my blog tagline goes “Love Can Be Anything”. There is no “one size fits all” meaning of love. The meaning of love is different for every person and every situation. No relationship is the same and no love for any person you feel is the same. The meaning of love for you might not be the same meaning of love as it is to me.
For me, the Beatles song “In My Life” sums up the meaning of love pretty well:
There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all

I don’t believe in a soul mate (for me anyway) I do believe in my wife and I together and our ability to hold hands through life come what may.

My hubsy and I have found that the meaning of love is complicated. Love means to love one another and the word and definition are packed with many particles of meaning. I think that the word “love” is the only one in the world that is allowed to have so many meanings and definitions. Because it really is indescribable. That little word includes every humans individual meaning to it and its only fair if that is the only way that it be left.
