It wasn’t until I worked a “9-5 M-F” job that I remembered how nice Saturday mornings were. Sure, I loved them as a kid, watching Saturday morning cartoons and eating sugar coated cereal…but I have a new appreciation for Saturday mornings now more than ever.
Here are 10 Reasons I love Saturday mornings:
- You can sleep in if you want to. Or you can get up early like usual but do whatever you want.
- Saturday mornings are the day for yard sales, garage sales, church rummage sales, and all those other fun bargain hunting things.
- No business calls. Most companies and people you work with will respect the Saturday morning and leave you alone, at least until the afternoon.
- You can make pancakes. Or even go out for breakfast. Let’s face it, who really wants to cook before they work or has time to eat more than a pop-tart? Truth is Saturdays might be the only day of the week I actually eat something that could be identified as breakfast.
- People are available. I don’t see many people during the week. They have jobs like most contributing members of society do. Since they’re off Saturdays we can make plans or catch up on the phone.
- Nobody notices if you’re tired or hung over. I don’t drink anymore at all, but Fridays used to be the night to go out and get hammered. If you had to work that Saturday it seemed like an unspoken understanding that was okay. And if you didn’t work, then it was almost expected and people left you alone.
- People are shopping and loving it. You can tell it’s Saturday morning just by going to Home Depot or Wal-mart for 5 minutes. People act like they are on a mission. They seem excited by the things they find. You feel like buying things you don’t even need.
- The newspaper has a special section in it just for Saturdays. I don’t know if this is all newspapers everywhere, but mine has an interesting little magazine that comes with it.
- The mail comes earlier on Saturday mornings. Our mail usually comes at 3 p.m. On Saturdays it’s here before noon. It’s always nice to get it early since I usually get some fun freebies or checks.
- There’s still tomorrow. Not working weekends means you get to enjoy tomorrow off too. When you know you have another day off coming, you enjoy the Saturday even more. You can go out of town for the weekend or put off housework (or catch up on it if you’re real ambitious!).
So that’s why I love saturday mornings - what do you love about yours?

What do I love about Saturday? For me, it is the simple thing like getting to the shop in the morning to get a Saturday paper.
Hi Chelle! I love Saturdays too (and Sundays). I sometimes work on Saturdays, but it’s more special than the 8-5 MF work.. because I get to stay at home [plus with no pressure!]. I hope it’s Saturday again! (Weekends just come by sooo fast..
)
They do go by fast - that’s their only downfall!
Saturday mornings are great. What is even better is we have Sunday mornings to do exactly the same if we had a busy Saturday morning. Weekends are the best….
