I love music. I won’t really go into great depth of how much I love music here, but recently after showing a 70 year old woman how to buy music online, I thought I’d actually go into why I love Amazon.com for mp3 downloads over iTunes…
1. Amazon.com has a larger selection of individual titles. We spent about 20 minutes looking for a song on iTunes before I finally called it quits and tried looking on Amazon. It came up in the first try.
2. Amazon.com lets you preview the song before you purchase it. There’s nothing worse than accidently getting the wrong song because you’ve mixed up versions or artists or song names! Worst yet is buying music blindly with no idea what it sounds like! The preview section lets you get a taste of what you’re buying.
3. Fast and easy integration of songs into iTunes and/or Windows Media Player. While obviously iTunes music goes straight to iTunes, I was initially skeptical of downloading music from Amazon, dreading the fact I would have to put the song in the right folder and update the player and all that other where’s the ibuprofen type of stuff…To my surprise it goes automatically to your player…thank goodness!
4. You don’t have to buy the whole album. Most of the songs can be purchased individually. This is great when you only want 1 or 2 songs and don’t really care for much else by a particular artist.
5. You can give MP3’s as a gift with Amazon.com’s unique Gift Certificates, Imagine how much you would like it if someone sent you a gift certificate in your email for any couple of free songs you’d like!
So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and try it - Choose “MP3 Downloads” from the drop down box below and type in any song or artist name:
